My third poetry collection, Pergamino de Reflexiones, brings together 41 lyrical poems, five of them in English. After nearly five years of poetic silence, my pencil reconciles with me once again, and this collection is born, published in 2011. The book is dedicated to a man who, shortly after my arrival in New York, became my “gay father” and who left this world far too soon. Within these verses live poems dedicated to him, nostalgia for my island, my struggle with the reality of living with HIV, the stories of others who touched me and inspired me to keep moving forward, and, as could not be missing, romance.
Mi tercer poemario, Pergamino de Reflexiones, reúne 41 poemas líricos, cinco de ellos en inglés. Después de casi cinco años de silencio poético, el lápiz vuelve a reconciliarse conmigo y nace esta colección, publicada en 2011. El libro está dedicado a un hombre que, poco después de mi llegada a Nueva York, se convirtió en mi “padre gay” y que se me escapó al cielo demasiado pronto. Entre estos versos habitan poemas dedicados a él, la nostalgia por mi isla, mi lucha con la realidad de vivir con VIH, historias de otros que me impactaron e inspiraron a seguir adelante y, como no podía faltar, el romance.
